The experience

You start in Belize City, where a licensed driver picks you up and takes you through the north side of the city, pointing out landmarks and historical buildings along the way. The hour-long drive heads west through the countryside to the zipline park in the cave branch area of the Sibun River. Once you arrive, you meet the crew, get a safety briefing, and clip into the first of seven lines.

The platforms sit as high as 60 feet from the forest floor. You'll move at about 30 mph as you zip from one to the next, suspended above the tropical broad-leaf rainforest. The crew running the activity has an exemplary safety record. Between lines, you're moving through the canopy itself: close enough to see the forest that the country has worked to protect. On the return trip to Belize City, your guide takes you through the south side of the city to show you more historical and cultural structures.

The whole outing takes about three hours from pickup to drop-off. Bottled water and the entrance fee are included, and you travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with your guide, who speaks English and Spanish.
