You'll Walk Straight Into the Water—No Boat Needed

You walk from the dive center to Playa Grande, enter the water, and descend straight to the house reef with a small group and your guide. The dive includes coffee or tea before you suit up, well-maintained rental equipment if you need it, and the kind of attention a four-person group gets that a boat full of twenty never does. Book if you're certified and want to dive without the logistics of a boat departure.

Step-by-step itinerary

  • Walk to house reef at Playa Grande
  • Dive at house reef
  • Dive at Black Beach and Playa Chica
  • Dive at local wreck sites

The Experience

The moment you realize you're diving off the beach in Puerto del Carmen, not motoring out to some distant site, it hits different. Euro-Divers Lanzarote sits right on Playa Grande with their house reef a short walk away—which means you're geared up, in the water, and down to the reef in the time it'd take a boat tour to motor out. The dive center is run by a Dutch family, and they keep groups small, usually four to six divers, which changes everything underwater. You're not herding through a crowd; your guide has time to notice if you're chasing a shot or struggling with buoyancy, and underwater photographers get the space to actually frame their pictures instead of just pointing and hoping.

Lanzarote's one of those places where the water stays warm and clear most of the year—twelve months of diving without the season crunch. The house reef itself is the main draw for this dive, but the region around Puerto del Carmen has other sites too: Black Beach, Playa Chica, and a couple of wrecks if you want something different. You bring your own kit if you have it, or rent from them; their equipment gets maintained regularly, so it's not the sketchy stuff you sometimes find at smaller operations. Before you go down, there's coffee or tea waiting, which sounds small until you're standing on a beach in the Canaries and someone hands you something warm.

The dive itself is straightforward—entry from shore, no long surface swim, no boat shuffle. You're qualified already (this is for certified divers), so it's just you, your guide, and whatever the reef decides to show you that day. The whole thing moves at the pace of the group, not some preset itinerary that doesn't care if you've found something interesting.
