Lanzarote Scuba Diving: Museo Atlántico Beginner Dive

You learn the basics on land and in a pool, then dive the Museo Atlántico with an instructor guiding you through the sculptures at a beginner-safe depth. Hotel pickup, all equipment, and the boat are included. The whole experience takes three hours, and you walk away having actually dived, not just watched.

The Experience
That's the whole point of this program in Lanzarote. You show up at the dive center at 10am with no experience, and by noon you're in the water at Museo Atlántico, 12 meters down, looking at sculptures that Jason deCaires Taylor carved specifically for the ocean. The three-hour window sounds tight, but it works because everything is designed for first-timers — the pool training gets you comfortable with the gear and the breathing, and then the boat ride out gives you time to settle your nerves before the actual dive.
The instructors run you through the safety briefing and the basics on land first, so there's no guessing once you're underwater. You practice in the pool, get your confidence up, and then it's just you, your guide, and the sculptures. The depth is shallow enough that you can see everything clearly — the museum sits in a spot where the light still reaches, which is part of why it works for beginners. Most people who've never dived before say the hardest part isn't the breathing or the pressure; it's the first moment of letting yourself trust the equipment. By the time you're actually in the ocean, you've already done that in the pool.
Hotel pickup is included if you're staying in Playa Blanca, which saves the logistics of finding the dive center on your own. You'll need to be moderately fit — there's walking, climbing in and out of the boat, and the physical act of wearing the gear — but it's not a hike. The whole group stays small, so your instructor can watch you closely. One thing to know: you can't fly for at least 18 hours after diving, so plan your travel day around that if you're flying out.
What’s included
Your experience includes hotel pickup and drop-off from Playa Blanca, a professional dive instructor who stays with you the entire time, all diving equipment (wetsuit, tank, regulator, mask, fins), and boat transport to and from Museo Atlántico. You also get the pool training session on land before the ocean dive, and a safety briefing that walks you through everything step by step.
Operated by Dive College Lanzarote
Is this one for you?Right for anyone curious about scuba diving who doesn't want to commit to a full certification course. You're out for three hours total, which means you can fit it into a shorter trip, and you don't need to be an athlete — just moderately fit and willing to try something new underwater.

Do I need to have dived before?
No. The program is designed for people with zero diving experience. You get instruction on land, practice in the pool, and then dive with your instructor supervising the whole time.
How deep do we go?
Maximum 12 meters. That's shallow enough for light to reach the sculptures clearly and for beginners to stay comfortable and safe.
What's included in the price?
Your dive instructor, all diving equipment, the boat to Museo Atlántico, and hotel pickup if you're in Playa Blanca. You just bring yourself and a swimsuit.
How long is the whole thing?
Three hours total, starting at 10am. That includes the briefing, pool training, the boat ride, and the dive itself.
What if I have a medical condition?
You'll fill out a health questionnaire before the dive. Some conditions like asthma or heart issues can prevent diving, so check with your doctor first if you have any concerns.
Can children do this?
Yes, minimum age is 10 years old. They need to be moderately fit and comfortable in water.
Can I fly after this?
Not for at least 18 hours. Plan your travel day so you're not flying out the same afternoon.
