Lanzarote Sea Trek Helmet Diving: No Swimming Required
Helmet Diving in Lanzarote: Breathe Normally 30 Feet Down
You get 30 minutes underwater in a helmet that lets you breathe normally while walking on the seafloor at 3–4 meters depth, no swimming ability needed. A 10-minute training comes first, then you're in the water with a local guide and up to seven other people. The Sea Trek system handles the air supply, so your lungs work like they do on land. Book this if you want to see the seabed without the learning curve of scuba or the anxiety of snorkeling.

Step-by-step itinerary
Sea Trek helmet diving experience

- Attend 10-minute training session
- Wear Sea Trek helmet
- Dive underwater up to 3-4 meters
- Enjoy 30 minutes exploring marine life
- Experience zero gravity sensation
The experience
You step off the boat into Costa Teguise's shallow water, and someone hands you a helmet that feels heavier than it looks. Then you walk forward, and the seafloor rises to meet you. The tube connected to the helmet feeds air down as you move, and your lungs work exactly as they do on land: no holding your breath, no panic, no swimming skill required. This is the Sea Trek system, and it's the reason people who've never dived before find themselves walking across the bottom of the Atlantic at 3 to 4 meters deep, watching fish scatter and the sand shift beneath their feet.
The session starts with a 10-minute briefing on how the helmet works and what to expect, then you're in the water for a full 30 minutes. Groups stay small, never more than eight people, so there's room to move without crowding, and your local guide stays close enough to point things out or help if you need it. The helmet's wide field of view means you're not staring through a porthole. You can see the reef structure, the light filtering down, the small movements of the marine life around you. It's the sensation of weightlessness without the equipment, the training, or the fear.
Weather determines which site you'll use, but both spots in Costa Teguise offer the same shallow, calm conditions that make this work for kids as young as eight and for people who've never been underwater before. You can wear glasses or contacts inside the helmet, so vision isn't an issue. The only real constraint is cardiovascular health (if you have heart or breathing problems, this isn't the activity for you), but otherwise, fitness level doesn't matter. You're not exerting yourself. You're walking and looking.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to see the seabed without learning to scuba dive or managing the anxiety of snorkeling. The helmet does the breathing work, which is what makes it possible for non-swimmers and young kids to spend half an hour on the ocean floor.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Swedish.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24h before the start.
Do I need to know how to swim?
No. The Sea Trek helmet system is designed so you walk on the seafloor rather than float or swim. You don't need any water skills.
How deep do you go?
Maximum depth is 3 to 4 meters (roughly 10–13 feet). It's shallow enough that light reaches the bottom and you stay comfortable.
How long is the whole experience?
About 40 minutes total: 10 minutes of training on the boat, then 30 minutes underwater.
What's the minimum age?
Eight years old. Children must be comfortable following instructions and staying calm underwater.
Can I wear glasses underwater?
Yes. Glasses, contact lenses, and sunglasses all work inside the helmet. Makeup is also fine.
What if the weather is bad?
The dive site is chosen based on weather conditions that day. Both locations in Costa Teguise are used depending on sea state.
Is insurance included?
Yes, insurance is included in the booking.
How many people go on each dive?
Groups are limited to a maximum of 8 travelers, so it stays small and manageable.
