The experience

Playa Blanca is where you meet the guide and begin with a beach briefing on snorkeling technique and how to move around the marine life without disturbing it. The guide covers the names and characteristics of the fish you are likely to see, so you know what you are looking at once you are in the water. This is not a tour where you follow a route. It is time spent in the shallows with someone who knows what lives there and can point it out as it happens.

Once in the water, the guide stays with you throughout the 90 minutes. You will see the fish the briefing prepared you for, and the guide photographs you alongside them: both snorkeling shots and freediving moments if you want to try it. The pictures go home with you, along with a handbook of the marine species typical to the Canary Islands, so you have a record of what you saw and a way to identify it later.

Hotel pickup is included, and the guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French depending on your preference. The activity is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Children from age 6 can participate. Younger children can come along in a pram or stroller while adults snorkel.
