Snorkeling in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote: kayak and marine life
Paddle the coast, then drop into clear water to watch the marine life
Kayak and snorkel in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, paddling along volcanic formations and stopping to swim and explore the seabed with mask and snorkel in clear, sheltered waters. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French; children from age 10 are welcome. The two-hour outing includes all equipment, a safety briefing at the start, and photographs taken during the activity.
The Experience
The morning begins with a safety briefing from your guide at Playa Blanca, then you push off into calm water close to shore. The route runs along the southern coast, staying sheltered from wind and wave motion so you can focus on paddling and the landscape itself — volcanic cliffs and formations rising from the sea, the kind of geology that makes Lanzarote distinct. The guide points out natural details and curiosities about the area as you move, and stops at the most interesting points along the way.
Roughly halfway through, you anchor the kayak and slip into the water with mask and snorkel to explore the seabed. The guide chooses the spot for clarity and marine life, so you are looking at the actual fish and plants that live there, not murky water and hope. You have time to swim and look around without rushing, then climb back into the kayak for the paddle back to Playa Blanca.
The whole outing runs about two hours. Your guide takes photographs throughout the day and provides them free of charge at the end, so you leave with images instead of just memory. All equipment — mask, mouthpiece, kayak and life jacket — is included.
