Sea Walker diving in Kuta lets you explore the seafloor in a pressurized helmet designed so you can breathe and see without any diving or swimming experience. You walk on the bottom for 30 minutes surrounded by fish and coral, then pick your watersports package: either jet ski and flyfish, or banana boat, flyfish and donut boat. Private hotel pickup, a guide in English, lunch and all equipment are included. The whole outing runs about five hours.

The experience

The sea walker helmet is the draw here. A full-face window that lets you stand upright on the seabed and move at your own pace while breathing normally. No certification, no pool training, no swimming ability required. You're picked up from your hotel between 8:30 and 9:30 am and driven to a south Bali beach where a guide meets you with a welcome drink. After a safety briefing, you descend into the water and walk for 30 minutes watching fish move past the helmet's window.

What comes after depends on which package you choose at checkout. Package A adds a banana boat ride (15 minutes), flyfish (two rounds), and a donut boat (15 minutes). Package B swaps the banana boat and donut boat for a jet ski ride with an instructor (15 minutes) and keeps the flyfish. Both packages include a simple Indonesian lunch before your driver takes you back to the hotel in an air-conditioned van. Bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses and a change of clothes. The operator provides life vests and all diving equipment.

The activity suits ages 10 to 60. If you're prone to seasickness, bring medication. Pregnant travelers and anyone with spinal injuries or serious heart conditions should skip this one. Everyone else, regardless of fitness level, can walk the seafloor.
