The experience
The day starts with hotel pickup on a schedule you agree beforehand, then a fast boat departs Sanur at 9:15am for the 45-minute crossing to Nusa Lembongan. An experienced instructor walks you through the fundamentals in a pool session (either the afternoon before or at 7am on the morning of the dive), so you're ready for the ocean. If you've already trained, you can skip straight to the two open-water dives. The pool work takes the pressure off and means you're not learning the basics while sitting on a boat.
The first dive happens after you arrive and check in at the dive shop on the island. The second comes after a one-hour surface interval on shore with tea, coffee and a lunch box. Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan sit on the southeast coast and draw divers year-round, though Mola Molas (sunfish) show up reliably from July through October. Manta rays drift through the same waters, though sightings depend on the dive site and the day's conditions. The operator welcomes requests for specific sites but notes that weather and scheduling may limit options.
The boat leaves the dive shop at 2pm for the return crossing, arriving back in Sanur by 4:45pm and dropping you at your hotel by 5pm. All scuba gear is included, along with a guide certified and insured, familiar with the reefs and what lives in them. The operator has maintained a 100% safety record since 1991.

Is this one for you?You do the diving yourself with an instructor's guidance, not watching from a boat. This is hands-on learning in the water. The shared fast boat and small-group format keep costs down while the fixed 9:15am departure and 5pm return fit a single day in Bali without early starts or late finishes.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the difference between doing the pool training the day before versus the morning of the dive?
Either works. Training the day before gives you more time to rest before the ocean dives. Training at 7am on the same morning means you can book everything in one day, though you'll be in the water earlier and the day runs longer.
Can I see Manta rays when I dive in Nusa Penida?
Manta rays do inhabit the waters around Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, but sightings are not guaranteed. They depend on which dive site the instructor chooses and the day's weather and sea conditions.
What happens if the sea conditions are rough on the day of my dive?
The instructor decides whether to do the first dive in the pool or in the ocean based on sea conditions and your readiness. If conditions are unsafe, the operator may adjust the plan, though specifics depend on what the day brings.
Do I need to be certified to do this dive?
No. This experience is designed for beginners with no prior diving skill. The pool training covers the basics, and the instructor guides you through both ocean dives. If you enjoy it, you can continue to the Open Water Course (three days) and earn certification.
What's included in the lunch during the surface interval?
A lunch box is provided during the one-hour break between dives on the island, along with tea and coffee available on the boat.
