The experience

Sanur Beach is the crossing point to Nusa Penida, and the tour handles the logistics: you're picked up from your hotel in Sanur, Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua, then driven to the pier. The public fast boat takes 45 minutes each way, with insurance and all harbour fees included. You arrive with a local guide who knows the western region and its narrow roads, so navigation and timing are settled before you step off the boat.

The day moves through four stops. Kelingking Beach is a naturally formed cliff shaped like a finger, one of the island's signature landmarks where you can walk and photograph the formation. Broken Beach (Pasih Uug) is a cave surrounded by cliffs with sea water pooled inside. Your guide helps you navigate the area and find angles for photos. Angel's Billabong sits on cliffs with sea views and rock pools filled by seawater where you can wade in. At Crystal Bay you have time to swim or simply rest on the white sand. Lunch and a drink come at a local warung on the island, so you eat where the food is.

The return boat departs at a fixed time, which means you know exactly when to leave the beach and when you'll be back at your hotel. The whole day (crossing, four stops, lunch and the return) takes 11 hours from pickup to drop-off.
