You get picked up from your hotel, ferried to Nusa Penida, and guided through Kelingking Beach, Crystal Bay, Manta Bay, and Angel's Billabong with snorkeling gear and an underwater camera included. The driver handles the ferry timing and the boat captain knows where the mantas are most likely to appear. You're back at your hotel by evening without having booked separate transport, equipment rental, or a guide.
The boat ride to Nusa Penida takes about 30 minutes, and yeah, it can get a bit choppy depending on the day. But that's also why you're not figuring out the ferry schedule yourself or standing in a queue at the harbor — your guide meets you at Toyapakeh and handles the rest. From there, the day splits between two things: the beaches you see from above, and the water you actually get into. Kelingking Beach is the one everyone photographs — a T-shaped strip of sand tucked under cliffs so steep that the only way down is a staircase carved into the rock, and even that's not for everyone. You get the view from the top, which is the part most people come for anyway.
The snorkeling happens at three separate spots: Crystal Bay first, where the coral is still mostly intact and the reef fish are thick enough that you'll see them without looking hard; then Manta Bay in the southwest, where the stingrays actually show up (they're harmless, just enormous — up to seven meters); and Gamat Bay if the conditions allow it, though the currents there are strong enough that your guide will make the call on the water. You get the snorkel gear, the mask, the fins, and an underwater camera if you want to grab shots. The boat stops at each spot for maybe 45 minutes to an hour, so you're not rushed, but you're also not drifting around all day.
After the water, there's Angel's Billabong — a natural pool trapped between the cliffs where the seawater cycles in and out with the waves, turning the water these impossible shades of green and blue depending on the light and the minerals in the rock. It's small, it's strange, and it's exactly the kind of thing you'd miss if you were trying to navigate the island alone. The whole day wraps up when the boat leaves Banjar harbor at 4:30 PM, getting you back to Sanur by late afternoon and dropped at your hotel. It's a full day — you're moving between five or six stops — but it's structured enough that you're not making decisions about where to go next.
