The experience

Your guide meets you at your hotel and drives you to the Giza Pyramids, where you'll see the three main tombs (Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus), and stop at photo points along the way. The guide talks through what you're seeing as you move, covering the history and construction of each pyramid. From there you visit the Great Sphinx, which dates to the reign of Chephren, and the Valley Temple of the pyramids. If your option includes entry to the pyramid interiors, you go inside. If not, you view them from outside.

Next is Saqqara, home to Egypt's oldest pyramid: the Step Pyramid of Zoser, built in the 3rd Dynasty for King Djoser. The site sits about 30 kilometers south of Giza and marks a shift in how the ancient Egyptians built their tombs. From there you drive to Memphis, the ancient capital, where you see the great Statue of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx of Memphis. The tour takes 6 to 7 hours total. If your option includes lunch, it's provided during the day. If you've chosen the camel ride, that happens at the Pyramids.

The guide is a qualified Egyptologist, and the tour operates in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and 25 other languages, subject to availability. If your preferred language isn't available on your date, a live English guide leads the tour with an audio guide in your chosen language playing alongside. Transport is by air-conditioned vehicle, and all sites and surfaces are wheelchair accessible.
