The experience
Your guide meets you at your Cairo or Giza hotel and drives you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Pyramids. There you walk the pyramid complex with the guide, who explains how the pyramids were built and what their symbols meant to ancient Egypt. You can photograph the desert landscape from the Panorama area, and if you buy an optional ticket, step inside a pyramid passage. A camel ride at the Panorama site is also available as an add-on.
From the pyramids, you move to the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of the Pyramid. The guide walks you through the sphinx's construction and purpose, then through the valley temple's functions. You stand in front of the sphinx for photographs and view the entire pyramid funerary complex from the sphinx's vantage point. The angle that gives the best sight lines across the complex.
The final stop is the Grand Egyptian Museum, completed in 2021. The entrance hall alone spans 7,000 square meters and opens with a colossal statue of Ramesses II. The grand staircases cover 6,000 square meters and display 87 large statues. Twelve galleries hold monuments from Egypt's predynastic period through the Greco-Roman era. The centerpiece is King Tut's funerary collection (over 5,300 pieces including an 11-kilogram solid gold mask and a 111-kilogram solid gold coffin) along with the Khoufo boat, a 43-meter vessel discovered in a pit next to the pyramids. At day's end, your driver returns you to your accommodation.
