Step-by-step itinerary

Chocolate plantation and making tour

  • Visit organic cocoa plantation
  • See cocoa flowers and trees
  • Observe fermentation and drying process
  • Roast and grind cocoa beans
  • Learn conching and refining process
  • Make your own chocolate bonbons

The Experience

The morning or afternoon starts on the organic cocoa plantation where you see the cocoa flowers and trees growing, then watch the fermentation and sun-drying process that turns fresh pods into usable beans. This is not a lecture—you're standing in the actual rows where the crop grows, so the scale and the work involved become real before you touch anything.

The second half moves into the ranch workspace where the actual making begins. You roast the dried beans, grind them into paste, and watch the conching and refining steps that transform rough cocoa into smooth chocolate. A live guide walks you through each stage in English or Spanish, so you understand what is happening and why the timing and temperature matter. Then you hand-craft your own bonbons—shaping, filling and finishing pieces you've made from beans you roasted yourself an hour earlier.

The whole experience runs about an hour and 45 minutes and wraps with a tasting of the chocolate, so you taste what you've built. The farm is wheelchair accessible, and children can attend if accompanied by an adult. Public transportation options are nearby if you don't have a rental car.

What’s included

  • Live guide in English or Spanish.
  • full access to the organic cocoa farm and ranch workspace.
  • roasting, grinding and bonbon-making instruction.
  • chocolate tasting at the end.
  • the bonbons you make to take with you.
