Ride a UTV through Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park during golden hour and into the night, with a guide, gear and all equipment provided. You drive the vehicle yourself through the dunes, then stop at an overlook with 360-degree views of the park to roast marshmallows, eat s'mores and stargaze. Must be 21 or older with a valid driver's license. Solo riders are paired with the guide. The experience runs 2.5 hours and includes the UTV, bottled water, s'mores ingredients and roasting sticks. State park entrance is $15 per vehicle (subject to change).

The experience

What's the best time to see the dunes and the stars in the same evening? Sunset at Coral Pink Sand Dunes, when you can still feel the sand shift under the tires and watch the light drain from the sky. You'll get geared up, climb into a UTV and drive yourself through the dunes during golden hour: the moment when the sand glows and the shadows deepen. The guide leads the way. If you're riding solo, you'll share the vehicle with them. As the sun drops, you'll head to a high overlook that opens onto 360-degree views of the entire state park, the kind of vantage point that makes the landscape feel endless.

Once you're settled at the overlook, the real shift happens. The sky darkens, and the stars begin to show. You'll roast marshmallows over a fire, build s'mores with chocolate and graham crackers, and spend time looking up. There's no rush. The 2.5-hour window is built around this moment, so you're not watching the clock. Bottled water is there, the roasting sticks are there, and the night sky does what it does best when the sun is gone and the dunes block the glow from anywhere else.

Infants can come along if they sit on an adult's lap, and service animals are welcome. The terrain and the pace suit all fitness levels. You're driving, not hiking, and the overlook is where you spend the quietest part of the evening. The state park entrance fee of $15 per vehicle is separate and subject to change, so confirm that when you book.
