Southern Utah ATV Riding: Peek-A-Boo Canyon & Sand Boarding
Drive your own UTV into a slot canyon most people never reach
ATV riding in Southern Utah takes you through Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon on a Can Am UTV you operate yourself, with 40 minutes walking and exploring inside the canyon and sand boarding on the return. A local guide leads the ride and shares information about the landscape. The experience runs 2.5 hours total, includes bottled water, and requires drivers to be 21+ with a valid license.
The Experience
You drive the UTV yourself—not a passenger watching someone else handle it. The route to Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon is the warm-up, but the canyon itself is what makes the trip worth the drive. Once you're inside, you have 40 minutes to walk through the natural feature, take photos, and see what the slot canyon actually looks like when you're standing in it. The walls narrow and the light changes as you move deeper in, and a local guide travels with your group to point out details and share stories about the place.
On the way back, the group stops at a sand hill near Peek-A-Boo to try sand boarding—essentially sledding down a dune. Bring a camera for both the canyon and this part; the contrast between the two is worth capturing. The whole outing takes 2.5 hours from start to finish. Bottled water is included. One thing to know: if you're more than 15 minutes late to the meeting point, the group leaves without you, so timing matters when multiple tours run the same day.
Drivers must be 21 or older and carry a valid license. Children from age 3 can come along, though they won't be driving the UTV themselves. The terrain and the activity are suitable for all fitness levels, though the operator notes it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy.

Is this one for you?You drive the UTV yourself, so you need a valid license and must be 21 or older—this is not a guided tour where someone else operates the vehicle. What is Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon like when you get inside it?
Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon is a narrow natural feature in Southern Utah where the walls close in around you as you walk through. You spend 40 minutes inside exploring and photographing the canyon itself, with a local guide there to explain what you're seeing and share stories about the landscape.
Do I have to drive the UTV, or can I ride as a passenger?
You operate the UTV yourself on this ride—you're the driver, not a passenger. You must be 21 or older and have a valid license to drive. Children from age 3 can ride along, but they won't be operating the vehicle.
What's included in the 2.5-hour experience?
The ride includes the UTV itself, a local guide who travels with your group, bottled water, and access to both the canyon and the sand boarding hill on the return. Entry to the canyon and all stops are part of the experience.
What time should I arrive, and what happens if I'm late?
Arrive on time for your departure—if you're more than 15 minutes late, the group leaves without you because multiple tours run throughout the day. The operation runs on Mountain Time, which is an hour ahead of Las Vegas and Arizona.
