The experience

Grand Staircase National Monument spreads across terrain that shifts between rocky ridges and deep sand, and the route to Inchworm Arch follows both. You're behind the wheel the whole time, not watching from a passenger seat, navigating the combination of surfaces while your guide leads the way and handles the route. The arch itself sits in a rarely visited corner of the monument, and the hike around it is part of what makes the stop worth the drive.

Your guide carries water for the group and will photograph you at the arch so you have the memory saved. The five-hour window covers the ride out, the time at Inchworm Arch, and the return, so the full day stays contained. Helmets and goggles are mandatory and provided. You'll want to bring a small backpack for extra water during the hiking portion. The landscape around you opens into big expansive views and bizarre rock formations: the kind of space that feels genuinely remote.
