The Experience

You'll spend two hours behind the wheel of an off-road vehicle navigating the red sand dunes and dirt trails that define Sand Hollow State Park. A licensed guide rides with you, coaching your line through different terrain and obstacles—sand, rock, elevation changes—and adjusting the pace to match your experience. The vehicle is built for this ground; you get a helmet, goggles, bottled water and ice, and the damage waiver covers what happens when you push the edges. Pickup is included, and children from age 4 can ride along.

The park itself sits in a landscape most visitors see only from a distance. From the top of the dunes you get a 360-degree view: Zion to the north, Hurricane cliffs to the east, Arizona Strip to the south, Pine Mountain and Snow Canyon to the west. The ground beneath you tells older stories—dinosaur tracks and Indian petroglyphs mark the red rock and dirt. The dunes are the main event, but the tour also moves through red rock terrain and sand trails that shift the challenge as you drive.
