The experience

Sand Hollow State Park is the centerpiece: you'll climb rolling sand dunes and traverse red dirt trails from the passenger seat, watching the landscape shift from sand to red rock formations. The ride includes a stop at the Top of the World viewpoint inside Sand Hollow, where the 360-degree vista opens up to Zion to the north, Hurricane cliffs to the east, and Pine Mountain to the west. The terrain here is built for off-highway vehicles (dinosaur tracks and Indian petroglyphs dot the landscape), and the driver handles every technical aspect of navigating it.

The route also passes views of Zion National Park itself, though the riding stays in the surrounding red rock country where UTVs are permitted. You'll see hidden canyons and unique rock formations that make for photographs, all without needing to operate the vehicle or manage the steep grades and rocky sections. The whole experience runs two hours, which leaves the rest of your day open for other activities in the region.

Pickup is included, and you'll get a helmet, goggles, bottled water and ice for the ride. A licensed guide drives. Children from age 4 can join. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, or for pregnant travelers.
