Step-by-step itinerary
Off-road adventure and dune views
- Take thrilling off-road UTV tour
- Enjoy 360-degree views from Top of the World
The experience
Two hours of riding starts with a safety briefing and helmet check, then you take the controls of a UTV built for two passengers minimum. The vehicle handles the soft sand of Sand Hollow State Park while you steer through the landscape: no experience required, and the guide stays with you throughout. The dunes shift constantly, so each line down feels different from the last.
Halfway through, you trade the UTV for a sandboard and climb to the top of the dunes for the descent. The slopes are steep enough to build real speed, and the sand absorbs the impact. Most riders do multiple runs before heading back. The whole experience sits inside Sand Hollow State Park, where the vantage point at the top gives a 360-degree view: Zion rises to the north, Hurricane's red cliffs sit to the east, and the Arizona Strip spreads south.
Pickup is included from your hotel or a central meeting point. Bring sunscreen and wear clothes that can get sandy. The operator provides water and a helmet. Children from age four can ride as passengers with an adult, though the activity itself is built around the driver's experience. A refundable damage deposit of $1,500 is required at checkout but returned if the vehicle stays intact.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (4 to 17 years). Children under 4 can't be included in the booking.
What's the difference between a self-guided ride and a private tour at Sand Hollow?
Self-guided means you operate the UTV with the licensed guide present but not directing your route. Private tour means the guide leads and chooses the path. Both options run two hours and include the same dunes and sandboarding.
Can I ride alone, or do I need a second person in the UTV?
Sand Hollow requires a two-person minimum per vehicle, so you'll either bring a friend or be paired with another rider. The guide travels separately on their own UTV.
What happens if I've never ridden an ATV before?
The activity suits all fitness levels and requires no prior experience. The guide covers the basics during the safety briefing, and the soft sand of the dunes is forgiving for learning. Start slow and build speed as you get comfortable.
How far is Sand Hollow from Zion National Park?
Sand Hollow State Park sits near Hurricane, Utah, roughly 40 minutes' drive from Zion's main south entrance. Pickup from your hotel is included, so you don't need to arrange your own transport.
What's included in the price, and what costs extra?
The ride includes the UTV, helmet, goggles, guide, bottled water, and a premium damage waiver. Gratuities are not included. A refundable damage deposit of $1,500 is required at checkout as an authorization hold.
