The experience

You learn to handle the jet ski on the water itself: no classroom, no diploma needed. The instructor walks you through the basics, then you follow the zodiac boat along a weather-friendly route that passes Yellow Mountain, Red Mountain, Costa del Silencio and Las Galletas. The guide picks the sights based on conditions that day, so the route adapts. Dolphins, whales and turtles show up sometimes, though there's no guarantee.

The tour runs 40 minutes or 1 hour depending on which option you book. You can ride solo on your own jet ski (minimum age 16 to drive, kids under 18 need parental permission) or share one as a passenger (minimum age 5). Either way, you're in a lifejacket the whole time, and the instructor stays close. A photographer captures photos and videos during the ride. These are usually available for an extra charge if you want them.

When you return to the port, soft drinks and coffee or tea are waiting. Showers are available if you want to rinse off before heading out. Arrive 20 minutes before the start time so the crew can fit you for gear and go over the safety rules. The €50 deposit per jet ski comes back as long as you stick to what they ask of you.

Do I need to know how to ride a jet ski before I book?

No. The instructor teaches you on the water, and you don't need a license or any prior experience. You just need to be at least 16 years old to drive your own jet ski, or 5 years old if you're riding as a passenger with someone else.

What happens if I want to ride with someone else instead of driving alone?

You can book the option for one jet ski with a driver and passenger. You'll ride behind the guide or another experienced rider and still see all the same sights along the coast.
