The Experience

The tour departs from the base in Las Chafiras and winds through the towns and countryside of South Tenerife, passing through dirt roads lined with typical Canarian crops. You drive the buggy yourself, taking in the landscape and fresh air as the route climbs toward El Teide National Park. The guide leads the way and points out the terrain as you go.

At 2,200 meters above sea level, the convoy stops on the high plateau. This is where you step out to relax, take panoramic photographs and stand in front of the volcanic cone and the views across the island. The air is noticeably cooler and thinner than at the base, and the scale of the landscape shifts—the towns and coast you drove through are now visible far below.

The return follows the same route back down, and on the way you can see the entire coastal area of Tenerife spread out as you descend. The whole outing takes 3 hours and 30 minutes from start to finish. You'll have bottled water and a chocolate or cookie during the stop, and the buggy rental, guide and pickup from your hotel are all included in the price.
