The experience

The day starts with a meeting in central Cozumel, where you'll check in and get organized before a transfer to Playa Tortugas Beach Club. You have time to settle in, use the facilities and prepare your gear before the catamaran leaves at 2:00 PM. The boat is spacious and two-tiered, so there's shade and room to move between snorkeling sessions and the onboard entertainment.

You'll enter the water at four stops. Palancar Reef comes first: a celebrated marine area off Cozumel's southern coast where you'll use the included snorkeling equipment to explore the reef formations and tropical fish. Columbia Reef is next, another reef section with its own landscape and marine life. Between stops, the boat fills with music and drinks flow freely (margaritas, beer, water, soft drinks for everyone, alcohol for guests 18 and older). Then comes El Cielo, a shallow-water highlight known for starfish scattered across the sandy floor in clear turquoise water: visually striking and calmer than the deeper reefs. The final stop is El Cielito, a sandbar where rays often move through the shallows. A snack of fish ceviche and a hot dog is served here, along with the beverage service.

The return sail gives you time to sit back, listen to music and watch the coastline. Certified guides are with you throughout the water activities, and all snorkeling gear and life jackets are provided. The whole experience runs about 7 hours from downtown pickup to return.
