Cozumel Scuba Diving Class: Learn & Dive Reefs
Learn to breathe underwater, then dive two Cozumel reefs in a single morning
An introductory scuba diving class in Cozumel's reefs for divers without certification, led by a professional instructor in groups of no more than two per guide. You spend the first part of the class learning equipment and basic skills in shallow water, then make two dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters on different reefs. Hotel pickup is included, and all diving gear is provided.
The Experience
The class starts with a briefing on the equipment and how to breathe underwater, taught by a certified diving instructor who stays with you throughout the day. After you practice the fundamentals in shallow water (1–2 meters), you're ready to descend. The two reef dives happen on different sites, each lasting roughly an hour, so you get a real sense of Cozumel's marine life and coral formations without rushing between stops.
Small groups mean a 1-to-2 instructor-to-diver ratio, so the guide can watch your technique and adjust the pace to your comfort. You'll use high-quality SCUBA equipment provided by the operator, and the whole experience runs about five hours from pickup to return. Bottled water is included to keep you hydrated between dives.
What’s included
- All SCUBA equipment (wetsuit, tank, regulator, BCD and weights).
- bottled water between dives.
- hotel pickup and return.
- two guided dives on different reefs with a certified instructor.
Operated by Aqua Divers Cozumel
Is this one for you?Book this class if you want to try scuba with a small group and a guide who stays focused on you—the 1-to-2 ratio means real instruction, not a crowded cattle call. It suits first-timers who'd rather learn in shallow water first and then move to the reef, rather than jumping straight into deep diving.

Can I do this dive if I've never been underwater before?
Yes. The introductory class is designed for divers without certification. Your instructor teaches you how the equipment works and lets you practice in shallow water before you descend to the reefs, so you build confidence at your own pace.
How deep do we actually go on the dives?
The maximum depth is 12 meters (about 40 feet). Your instructor stays with you the whole time and controls the pace, so you never go deeper than you're comfortable with.
What's included in the price?
All SCUBA equipment, bottled water, hotel pickup, and the two guided reef dives with a certified instructor are included. You just bring yourself and a swimsuit.
How long does the whole thing take?
Plan for about five hours from pickup to return, including the classroom briefing, shallow-water practice, and the two dives.
Will the instructor speak English?
Yes. The guide is available in English, Spanish, and French, so you can request your preferred language when you book.
What if I'm worried about my fitness level?
You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness for this class. The operator does not recommend it for pregnant travelers or those with poor cardiovascular health, so check your own comfort before booking.
