  • Enjoy provided water, soft drinks, and ceviche

The experience

The boat leaves Cozumel's main pier at 10 a.m., noon, or 2 p.m., and you'll spend the next four and a half hours moving between four stops. Palancar Reef is known for its healthy coral colonies, giant sponges, colorful fans and pronounced caves and abysses: the kind of formation that draws snorkelers from across the world. Colombia Reef sits nearby with its own system of tunnels, caverns and gigantic corals. Both are deep enough to explore but shallow enough to snorkel without certification.

El Cielo is built for beginners: the water stays shallow and clear, and the ocean floor is carpeted with starfish you can observe in their natural habitat. After that, Cielito offers crystal-clear water and white sand: a place to float and recover before the boat heads back. The operator provides water, soft drinks and ceviche during the day, so you're not managing hunger between stops.

Arrive at the booth on the main pier 10 minutes before your departure time. If you're arriving by cruise ship, let the operator know and they'll give you a closer meeting point at the Caletas Pier. Bring a swimsuit, sunglasses, a hat and water shoes or sandals. A backpack keeps your things dry on the boat. Children from age 2 up can join with an adult and a signed liability waiver.

What’s included

  • Lunch and drinks (water, soft drinks, ceviche).
  • a live guide in English or Spanish.
  • boat transport between all four reef sites and Cielito.

What will I see when I snorkel at Palancar Reef?

Lunch and drinks (water, soft drinks and ceviche) are provided during the tour, so you don't need to pack food or pay extra for meals on the water.
