Three reefs, a sandbar with stingrays, and drinks between stops

A snorkeling tour in Cozumel that visits three coral reefs plus Playa El Cielo, a shallow sandbar where stingrays gather, aboard a glass bottom boat with an experienced crew. The tour includes snorkeling gear, drinks, a snack, and access to Money Bar beach club facilities afterward; guides speak English and Spanish, and children from age 3 are welcome.

4h 15m

Step-by-step itinerary

Cozumel snorkeling and beach club visit

  • Board glass bottom boat
  • Snorkel at Playa El Cielo
  • Snorkel at Palancar Reef
  • Snorkel at Columbia Reef
  • Enjoy drinks and snack on board
  • Use Money Bar Beach Club facilities

The Experience

The boat leaves with a small group and heads to three different reefs — Palancar, Columbia and Chankanaab — each one a stop where you get in the water to snorkel. The crew points out where the fish are and what to look for, so you're not guessing at the reef. Between stops you stay on the boat, where there's shade and drinks: beer, water, sodas and a snack are included. The glass bottom panels let you see coral and fish without getting wet if you want a break.

Playa El Cielo is the first stop — a sandbar in shallow water where stingrays glide underneath and starfish sit on the bottom. It's the easiest entry of the day and a good warm-up before the deeper reefs. Palancar Reef is the deepest site, with more structure and bigger fish. Columbia Reef is known for its color and density of marine life. Chankanaab has bright corals and schools of fish in a smaller, more contained area. The sequence moves from shallow to deep and back, so the day has a rhythm.

When the tour ends you can stay at Money Bar beach club — use the facilities, sit on the beach, and take your time before heading back. The whole outing runs about four and a half hours from start to finish. Snorkeling gear is provided and fitted to you; all you bring is a towel and sunscreen. Public transportation is nearby if you don't have a rental car.

What’s included

  • Complete snorkeling gear (mask, fins, snorkel).
  • experienced guides in English and Spanish.
  • drinks (beer, water, sodas).
  • a snack.
  • access to Money Bar beach club facilities after the tour.
  • shaded seating on the boat.

Is this one for you?The boat moves between three reef stops with time to snorkel at each one, so you're in the water for stretches but not the whole day — it's a mix of snorkeling and resting on deck. If you want to see multiple reefs without the pace of a fast-moving tour, or if you have young children who need shallow water and breaks, this schedule holds both.

Top questions

What's the difference between the three reefs on this Cozumel snorkeling tour?

Palancar Reef is the deepest site with larger coral structures and bigger fish; Columbia Reef is known for its vibrant colors and dense schools of fish; Chankanaab has bright corals in a more compact area. Playa El Cielo, the sandbar stop, is the shallowest and where stingrays and starfish gather in clear water.

Is snorkeling gear included, or do I need to bring my own?

Complete snorkeling gear is included with the tour — mask, fins, snorkel and wetsuit if you need one. You don't need to bring equipment or rent it separately.

Can I bring my children on this Cozumel snorkeling boat?

Children are welcome from age 3 onward. The tour includes a sandbar stop with very shallow water, which is suitable for younger snorkelers, and the crew can help with gear sizing and entry.

What drinks and food are included in the tour price?

Beer, water, sodas and a snack are included throughout the tour. You'll have access to drinks between reef stops while you're on the boat.

How long does the whole tour take from start to finish?

The tour runs about four and a half hours, including travel time between the three reef sites, time in the water at each stop, and the option to stay at Money Bar beach club afterward.

Do I need to arrange my own transportation to the boat?

Public transportation options are available near the departure point. If you don't have a rental car, you can use local buses or taxis to reach the dock.
