The experience
You meet your private guide at an agreed starting point near Petra's gates and walk 700 meters along the Bab el Siq, passing the Obelisks Tomb before entering the natural gorge itself. The Siq is 1200 meters of stone corridor: narrow, winding, and the traditional entrance to the ancient city. At its end, the Treasury (El Khazneh) appears carved directly into the cliff face, and you have time to photograph and absorb it before moving on.
From there the tour descends the Street of Facades to the Roman-style Nabatean Theatre, then takes in views of the Royal Tombs and continues down the Roman Street. The guide points out the major structures and explains what you're seeing, but the pace is yours to set. The tour officially ends at Qasr al Bint, but you then have free time to wander the site on your own: no rush, no group waiting.
The guide speaks English and is a local, so questions about the ruins, the Nabatean people, or how to spend your remaining hours at Petra get answered by someone who knows the place. You'll need moderate fitness for the walking and some elevation change, and you're responsible for buying your own entrance ticket at the gate (the price depends on your nationality and how many days you want to visit). There's no food, drink, or transportation included, so plan accordingly.

Top questions
What exactly is the Siq and why do you walk through it?
The Siq is a 1200-meter natural gorge carved into stone that serves as the traditional entrance to Petra. Walking through it is how you reach the Treasury and the rest of the ancient city. It's the main passage in, and the narrow walls and winding path make it an impressive arrival.
How much time do you spend at the Treasury?
The tour includes time to explore the Treasury, take photos, and prepare for the rest of the sites. There's no fixed duration stated, so you move at a comfortable pace with your guide before continuing to the Theatre and other stops.
What happens after the tour ends at Qasr al Bint?
After Qasr al Bint, the formal guided portion is over and you have free time to explore Petra on your own. You can wander the site, visit other areas, or rest before leaving.
Do I need to buy a separate ticket to enter Petra?
Yes, Petra entrance fees are not included in the tour price. You buy your own ticket at the gate. The cost varies by nationality (JOD 50 for most visitors, less for Arabs and Jordanians, free for children under 12) and by how many days you want to visit (1 day, 2 days, or 3 days).
Is food or transportation included?
No, there is no food, drink, or transportation included in this tour. You meet your guide at an agreed point near the gates and walk from there. Plan to bring water and snacks, and arrange your own way to the meeting point.
