A 2-day private tour from Amman takes you to Petra, one of the world's seven wonders, then into the desert landscape of Wadi Rum for an overnight stay, and finishes at the Dead Sea for a floating experience at the lowest point on Earth. You explore each site on your own schedule with an English-speaking driver and air-conditioned vehicle. Accommodation in Wadi Rum is arranged separately.

Day 1: Amman to Petra and Wadi Rum

The experience

The tour starts with an early pickup between 6:30 and 8:00 am from your Amman hotel, then a three-hour drive to Petra. A rest stop around mid-morning gives you time for coffee, a bathroom break and a stretch before continuing. Once you arrive at Petra, you have four to five hours to walk the site at your own pace (the rose-red cliffs, the carved facades, the canyon passages), all on a self-guided basis. Wear comfortable hiking shoes, a hat and sunscreen. The admission ticket is your responsibility to purchase on arrival.

After lunch at Petra, the driver takes you two hours into Wadi Rum, the desert landscape also known as the Valley of the Moon. Your overnight accommodation is in a deluxe tent on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner included), arranged in advance. Any jeep tours or other desert activities during your stay are booked separately. On day two, after breakfast, a two-hour jeep tour explores the desert formations before you head to the Dead Sea. There you float in the mineral-rich water and can coat yourself in the natural mud at the lowest point on Earth, roughly 435 meters below sea level. The tour ends with a return to Amman or, if you prefer, you can arrange to stay overnight at the Dead Sea instead.

Bottled mineral water is provided throughout. The driver speaks English and handles all transport. You choose whether to add a local guide at Petra or arrange activities in Wadi Rum. Bring a swimsuit, swimming slippers and goggles for the Dead Sea.
