The route starts 139 miles south of Amman at Petra, a Nabatean city carved into red stone over two thousand years ago. You'll enter through the narrow siq: a path that opens onto the Khazneh, a monumental facade believed to be a royal tomb. The walk takes you past other carved monuments including the Monastery and the Altar of Sacrifice. In the afternoon the vehicle moves toward Wadi Rum, known as the valley of the moon for its massive sandstone formations rising from rosy red desert floor. The landscape has stood in for alien worlds in films like The Martian and Lawrence of Arabia.

Day two begins in Wadi Rum's towering cliffs of brown, red and golden stone. After exploring the desert, you travel to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth.
