The experience

The tour departs Amman in the morning in an air-conditioned vehicle driven by a professional English-speaking driver. After three hours south, you arrive at Petra, Jordan's most famous attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You walk down the Siq (a long, winding sandstone canyon) to reach the Treasury, then explore the Street of Facades, the Roman Theater and the Royal Tombs on a guided tour lasting about two hours. In the afternoon, the drive to Wadi Rum takes two more hours across the desert landscape that inspired Lawrence of Arabia.

You overnight at a tourist camp in the middle of Wadi Rum, where dinner is served. The next morning, after breakfast at camp, you explore the desert in local off-road vehicles operated by Bedouins for two to three hours, seeing the terrain and rock formations that make Wadi Rum a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then comes a four-hour drive north to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at 408 metres below sea level. At a 5-star resort on the shore, you float in the warm, mineral-rich water and can apply the therapeutic mud before lunch and the return drive to Amman.

The vehicle carries one small piece of luggage per person and has bottled water, WiFi and a mobile phone available.
