You choose 3–4 sites from Tokyo's temples, gardens, shrines, and neighborhoods; your licensed guide handles entry fees and navigation while you walk. Six hours means you see real depth in a few places instead of a rushed blur of many. Best if you know roughly what you want to see and don't want to book tickets or figure out the train system yourself.
Tokyo is so large that even a full day barely scratches the surface, which is exactly why this tour lets you pick what matters to you instead of following a fixed route. You meet your government-licensed English-speaking guide on foot in a designated area and spend six hours moving through the city at your own pace—three to four stops, depending on how long you linger. The guide handles the logistics: entry fees to the sites on your list, the walking route, the timing. You just show up and decide what you want to see.
The attractions span everything from old Tokyo to new. Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa is the oldest, built in 645, with a shopping street that's been selling temple snacks for centuries. Shibuya Crossing is the opposite—one of the world's busiest intersections, where thousands of people cross at once. Between those two extremes sit Meiji Shrine (a forested shrine near Harajuku Station), the Imperial Palace grounds (you walk around the perimeter; the inside is closed to visitors), Shinjuku Park with its wide lawns, and quieter spots like Shibamata, an eastern neighborhood that still feels like old-school Tokyo. If you want something different—Akihabara's electronics and anime shops, Hama Rikyu Gardens with its tidal pond, the Tokyo National Museum—those are options too. You pick before the tour starts, and the guide builds the day around what you chose.
This is a walking tour, so comfortable shoes matter. The guide meets you on foot rather than picking you up from a hotel, which means you're starting from a central point the two of you agree on. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and strollers work fine if you're traveling with small children. You can change your tour date up to two days before, though that might mean a different guide or a date that's no longer available. Entry fees to the sites you choose are included; everything else—food, shopping, transport between neighborhoods—is on you.
Your six-hour tour includes on-foot meetup with a government-licensed English-speaking guide, entry fees to the 3–4 sites you choose from the itinerary (Senso-ji Temple, Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace grounds, Shinjuku Park, Shibamata, Akihabara, Hama Rikyu Gardens, Tokyo National Museum, and others), and the guide's knowledge of routes and timing. Meals, transportation between neighborhoods, and shopping are not included.
