The experience

Three wines, each one a project you won't find in shops or restaurants. San Giorgio a Lapi sits between Chianti and Crete Senesi, a few minutes from Siena, and the tasting centers on interpretations of old Tuscan grape varieties (Colorino, Canaiolo, Sangiovese) grown and made on the property. What sets this apart is that the winemakers guide you through their own work, talking directly about the research and territory that shaped each bottle. The wines carry no added sulfites, a choice that changes how they taste and how they age.

On the panoramic terrace, each glass arrives with a pairing: selections of Tuscan salami and Japanese ham, pecorino aged two, four or twelve months with forest honey, burrata with summer tomatoes and basil oil, pea and broad bean crostini, chicken liver pâté on toasted brioche, beef carpaccio with melon, or tomato gruel with Tuscan bread and olive oil. The pairings are built to bring out the aromas and structure of each wine, not to overshadow them. You sit in the shade of an ancient white mulberry, looking out over the hills, and the whole thing unfolds at a pace that lets you absorb what you're tasting without rushing.

The experience runs about ninety minutes. A guide speaks English or Italian, and the setting is wheelchair accessible throughout. Children under eighteen are welcome and receive the food pairings with water instead of wine.
