The experience

A little over an hour at Poggio ai Laghi starts in the winery's production area and cellar, where your guide explains how the wine moves from vine to bottle. Then you move to the vineyard or a nearby tasting spot to taste six wines: Arella and Firmina sparkling cuvées, Lucilla Chianti Classico, Oletta Chianti Riserva, and Aranda Supertuscan, each one paired with the estate's olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars. The tasting is guided, so you're not left to guess what you're drinking.

Lunch arrives with the wines already open. You start with Tuscan cured meats (salami, finocchiona, prosciutto) alongside pecorino cheese, bruschetta with fresh tomato and basil, and toasted Tuscan bread with extra virgin olive oil. The first course is lasagna with Tuscan meat ragù. Dessert is cantuccini paired with Vin Santo, the sweet wine that traditionally closes a Tuscan meal. Bottled water and soft drinks come with the experience. Everything else (the wines, the oils, the vinegars, the full lunch) is included.
