The experience
The morning starts at the neighborhood market and the traditional food shops nearby, walking with your host to pick out ingredients and learn what makes each one matter for Milan cooking. This is not a tour of the market as a sight. You're there to understand what goes into the dishes you'll make, and your host points out the seasonal produce, the cuts of meat, the cheeses and the pasta shapes that define the local kitchen. By the time you leave the market, you know what you're cooking and why.
Back at the home kitchen, you get your own workstation with utensils and all the ingredients already laid out. Your host walks you through three recipes: a seasonal starter, a fresh pasta dish (Pizzoccheri, Risotto or Lasagna, depending on the day), and a Milanese dessert like Sbrisolona cake or Tiramisu. You're not watching a demonstration. You're doing the work, and your host is there to show you the tricks that make the difference. The class runs about 4.5 hours total, so there's time to ask questions and to get your hands into the dough.
When everything is ready, you sit down and eat what you made, with a selection of red and white local wines poured alongside. Water and espresso come too. The meal is the payoff for the work. You taste the result of following the recipe, and you understand how the ingredients you picked at the market came together.

Is this one for you?The class is taught in English or Italian, so pick the language your host speaks and you'll follow along comfortably. This is a private experience in someone's home, not a group class in a commercial kitchen, so you get the host's full attention and can ask questions as you cook.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 8 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What three dishes do I actually cook in the class?
You prepare a seasonal starter, a fresh pasta dish (either Pizzoccheri, Risotto or Lasagna depending on availability), and a traditional Milanese dessert such as Sbrisolona cake or Tiramisu. Your host chooses based on the market and the season.
Do I need cooking experience to join this class?
No prior experience is required. Your host teaches each step and works with you at your own pace, so the class is built for anyone who wants to learn, whether you've cooked before or not.
Is the market tour included, or is that a separate activity?
The market tour is part of the same experience. You shop with your host at the start, picking ingredients for the dishes you'll cook later in their home kitchen, so the two parts connect directly.
How many people can join the class at one time?
This is a private class, so it's just you and your host (or your group and your host if you're booking for multiple people together). No other travelers join.
