You’ll glide along the Amalfi Coast by boat with local crew, stopping to swim in clear coves and snack on regional bites right on deck. Taste limoncello as you dry in the sun, explore Amalfi or relax onboard, then sail home with only wind for company—leaving you lighter than when you started.
We stepped onto the deck in Salerno and I could already smell the sea — that mix of salt and something faintly herbal from the hills. The boat felt smaller than I’d pictured (in a good way), just enough space for us to sprawl out but not so big you’d get lost. Our guide, Antonio, handed out glasses of prosecco before we even left the harbor. He grinned and said something about “switching off” — which honestly sounded impossible at first. But once we pushed off and Cetara’s pastel houses started shrinking behind us, I realized he was right. There’s a different kind of quiet out here.
The Amalfi Coast boat tour is all about moving slow — we drifted past Vietri, Erchie, Capo d’Orso. Sometimes Antonio would point out a cave or tell a story about fishermen; sometimes he just let us listen to the slap of water on the hull. We stopped near Maiori for our first swim. The water was colder than I expected (I actually yelped when I jumped in), but after a minute it felt like silk. Someone passed me a slice of mozzarella on bread while I was still drying off — salty hands, soft cheese, sun on my face. Not fancy, just good.
We got close to Amalfi itself later on. You can go ashore if you want — some people did — but I stayed on deck watching the village shift as clouds moved over it. There was this waterfall near Marmorata that surprised everyone; you could hear it before you saw it, rushing straight into the sea. On the way back to Salerno, Antonio turned off the engine and let us try steering under sail for a bit. It got quiet except for wind and some nervous laughter (I didn’t crash us). That silence is what stuck with me most — just wind and water and feeling small in a really good way.
Your day includes welcome drinks as soon as you board in Salerno, plenty of chances to swim along hidden stretches of coast between Vietri and Amalfi, an easygoing light lunch with dessert plus limoncello served right on deck before sailing back under wind power if conditions allow.
