The experience
The gozzo leaves Molo Manfredi in Salerno at 9 am, built to hold eleven people but booked as a private charter. The boat is spacious enough to lie down and sunbathe on the bow, with a full-height bathroom cabin below. Your first stop is Li Galli, an archipelago of three islets off Positano that sits inside a marine protected area: one of the least developed stretches of the Mediterranean. You jump in to snorkel in clear water between the islands, then dry off in the sun with drinks and snacks the skipper provides.
From there the route passes through the Faraglioni, the famous sea stacks that frame Capri, and you make a wish as the boat glides between them. The skipper takes you to Marina Piccola and then along the island's southern coast, stopping at the green cave and other small hidden coves where you can swim. Around the western side stands Italy's second-largest lighthouse, a landmark locals favor. The boat then heads to Marina Grande, where you can step ashore to walk through the island on foot: the Piazzetta, luxury shops, craft boutiques, villas and gardens with views over the water. If you want to enter the Blue Grotto, you transfer to a small rowing boat and pay the entrance fee separately (about €15 per person) to see the cave lit electric blue by light bouncing off the water below the surface. Around 4 pm the gozzo turns back toward Salerno, and you watch the sun set behind Capri and catch a last view of Positano's cliffs as you return to port.
The boat carries bottled water, soda and snacks throughout the day, and towels are on board. A fuel supplement is included in the price. If you want a sandwich, you can order one in advance for €5 per person. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French depending on your group.

Is this one for you?The boat is built for comfort (a wide bow for sunbathing, a cabin with a full bathroom, and shade), so the nine-hour day works for swimmers and sunbathers who don't want to rush. If you want to add a Blue Grotto visit, budget the extra entrance fee and time for the transfer to a rowing boat.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is Li Galli and why is it worth a swim stop?
Li Galli is an archipelago of three islets off the coast of Positano, protected as a marine reserve and one of the least developed places in the Mediterranean. The water is clear enough to snorkel between the islands, and the skipper stops long enough for you to dry off in the sun with drinks and snacks before moving on.
Can I visit the Blue Grotto on this tour?
Yes, the tour can include a stop at the Blue Grotto, but entry is not included in the price and costs about €15 per person. You transfer from the gozzo to a small rowing boat to enter the cave and see the water lit blue by light reflecting off the seabed.
Do I have time to explore Capri on foot?
Yes. The boat docks at Marina Grande, and you can go ashore to walk around the island. You can visit the Piazzetta, browse shops and galleries, see villas and gardens, and take in views from the heights, though most visitors find the time passes quickly.
What's included in the price and what costs extra?
Included are the skipper and guide, drinks, snacks, towels, a fuel supplement and onboard restroom use. The Blue Grotto entry (about €15 per person) and sandwiches (€5 each, ordered in advance) cost extra, as do gratuities.
How long is the full day and what time does it start?
The tour runs nine hours, departing Salerno at 9 am and returning at 6 pm. You spend the morning and early afternoon swimming and exploring by boat, then have time ashore on Capri before the return journey in late afternoon.
