The experience

Your driver picks you up from your Delhi hotel or airport at 2:30 AM for the sunrise option, or 5:00 AM if you're already in Agra. The early start gets you to the Taj Mahal before crowds fill the grounds. The drive from Delhi takes roughly 3.5 hours in a private air-conditioned car. Once in Agra, your guide meets you and walks you through the monument, pointing out the marble inlay work and the geometry that makes it recognizable, then helps position you for photographs from the best angles.

After the Taj Mahal, you'll have lunch at a premium restaurant in Agra, then move on to Agra Fort, a red sandstone fortress built in 1565 by Emperor Akbar and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fort shows the scale of Mughal power and the precision of the stonework. Your final stop is the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, known as the Baby Taj: a white marble mausoleum with delicate carvings and inlay work set in quiet gardens, often called a draft version of the Taj Mahal itself.
