The experience

Your driver picks you up from anywhere in Delhi (hotel, airport, railway station, or another location you name), and takes you to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway, the fastest route at three hours. You can stop for a toilet or snack break whenever you need one. Just tell the driver. As soon as you arrive in Agra, your guide meets you and walks you through the city's hidden history, not just the famous monument.

You visit the Taj Mahal, the white marble mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, then move to Agra Fort: the red-sandstone fortress called Lal Qila, started in 1565 by the emperor Akbar. The guide explains the architecture and the Mughal history as you walk both sites. A third stop takes you to Itimad-ud-Daula, a smaller jewel-box mausoleum built by Nur Jahan, wife of the emperor Jahangir, for her father. If you booked the meal option, you eat at a 5-star restaurant (Double Tree by Hilton, Bon Barbecue, Taj Mahal Restaurant or Two Cents), and choose between breakfast or lunch depending on your pickup time.

After the monuments, your guide leaves and you ride back to Delhi in the same AC car, dropped at your chosen location. The tour runs 12 hours total. Monument entry fees, all vehicle costs (tolls, fuel, parking, taxes), and bottled water are included. Carry a valid photo ID for the monument gates. The Taj Mahal closes every Friday, so plan your day around that. If your hotel isn't in the standard list, you can enter it manually at checkout.
