The experience

You're picked up and driven through Grenada's main sights over six to eight hours, starting at the spice market in St. George's where you can walk around and shop if you want. It's a quick stop. Fort Frederick comes next for the views and the history of the island, then Laura's herb and spice garden, where you'll learn what grows on Grenada and why it matters to the food and trade here.

Grand Etang Lake is the centerpiece: a crater lake ringed by rainforest where the Mona monkeys live and often come close enough to photograph. You can walk out to different lookout points and spend time watching the forest. After that, you head to Belmont Estate, a 200-acre property where the chocolate factory tour is covered by the operator, but lunch at their restaurant is separate. You'll have time to eat if you want, and you pay for it yourself. The rum distillery comes next, where you taste River Antoine's rums and learn how they're made the old way. The day ends at Mt. Carmel waterfall, where you can swim or just take pictures before heading back.

The tour moves at a steady pace with stops long enough to actually do something at each place, not just look. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with WiFi and water provided, and the same guide stays with you the whole day, so you're not rushed between stops or left to figure out what you're looking at.

Is this one for you?The six to eight hour commitment means you see five distinct stops and actually spend time at each one (the spice market, the crater lake, the chocolate factory and the waterfall) rather than racing through highlights. If your day is shorter, this tour fills it completely. If you have longer, you'll need to plan the rest of your afternoon separately.
