Explore Grenada's nature and culture

  • Tour House of Chocolate
  • Visit Annandale waterfall
  • Explore Grand Etang Forest Reserve
  • Tour local herb and spice garden
  • Visit Fort Fredrick for views and history

The experience

The House of Chocolate opens the tour with a complimentary walkthrough of how cocoa is grown and processed into chocolate, cocoa butter, rum and ice cream: all available to buy. From there, the route moves to Annandale waterfall, where vendors sell local crafts and spices, and local performers jump from the waterfall ledge. A bar and restaurant sit at the base if you want to eat or drink before moving on.

Grand Etang Forest Reserve is the centerpiece: a volcanic crater lake ringed by forest where Mona Monkeys live in their natural habitat. The guide walks you through the reserve's history, topography and wildlife. If the monkeys are out, you get photos. The lake itself is the backdrop for pictures with whoever came with you. From there, a spice garden lets you touch, smell and learn the medicinal and culinary uses of herbs and spices grown nowhere else: turmeric, nutmeg, cinnamon, all native to Grenada.

Fort Fredrick closes the loop with a panoramic view over St. George parish and the town below. The fort holds photographs and artifacts from the British-French wars. It's both a history lesson and a vantage point for scenic shots. Your guide speaks English throughout and fields questions about anything you see. Bottled water comes with the tour. Alcohol samples are available to anyone 18 or older.
