The Experience

A private Egyptologist meets you at Alexandria Port with a name sign, then drives you three hours to Cairo in an air-conditioned vehicle. Day one centers on the Giza Pyramids Complex: you'll stand before the Great Pyramid of Cheops (the largest on the plateau), the Pyramid of Chephren with its retained casing stones, and the smaller Pyramid of Mykerinos. The Great Sphinx comes next, followed by the Valley Temple, built with colossal granite blocks and thought to date to King Chephren's reign. After lunch at a local restaurant, you visit the Egyptian Museum, which holds 250,000 artifacts spanning 5,000 years of Pharaonic history. An optional two-hour Nile dinner cruise or Sound and Light show can be added to the evening.

You stay overnight at a five-star hotel in Cairo. On day two, breakfast comes at the hotel before your transfer back to Alexandria. The Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa are carved three levels deep into rock and blend Pharaonic, Hellenistic, and Roman art: a rare fusion that reveals how different cultures layered their burial practices and rituals. After lunch, you visit the Qaitbay Citadel, a 15th-century fortress built on the exact site where Alexandria's ancient Pharos Lighthouse once stood, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your guide returns you to the port by evening.

All entrance fees to the sites are covered, though tickets to enter inside the Great Pyramid itself are optional and purchased on site.
