The Experience
The tour starts the moment you leave Alexandria. Your guide travels with you in an air-conditioned vehicle to Sakkara, where you'll see the Step Pyramids: the first pyramids built in Egypt and the burial site of ancient nobles. From there you move to Memphis, the ancient capital, to stand in front of the colossal statue of Ramses II and the half-buried Hathor Temple. You'll pass the Sphinx before heading to Giza for a panoramic view of the three great pyramids: Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. The Valley Temple sits facing the Sphinx, and there's time for photos at several stops. Lunch happens at a local restaurant, then you're transferred to your hotel in Cairo for the night.
On day two, breakfast comes first. Your guide meets you in the hotel lobby and takes you to the Egyptian Museum, where King Tutankhamen's treasures are on display. A panoramic photo stop overlooks Cairo and the Nile before you visit the Citadel of Saladin and the Mohammed Ali Alabaster Mosque inside it. From there, you'll see the famous Library of Alexandria and the lighthouse on your way back to the port. Your guide delivers you to your cruise ship 2 hours before departure, so there's no rush and no risk of missing your sailing.
