You’ll ride a speedboat from Dubrovnik with a small group to swim in the glowing Blue Cave, snorkel through hidden Green Caves, then unwind on sandy Šunj Beach with drinks included. Expect laughter echoing off cave walls, salt on your lips, and time to relax beneath pine trees before heading back.
We were already bouncing over the water before I’d finished my first sip of coffee — our speedboat left Dubrovnik early, chasing a quiet morning on the Elafiti Islands. Our guide, Marko, had this way of pointing out things without making a big deal about it: “That’s Koločep,” he said, as if we weren’t all gawking at the color of the sea. The air tasted salty and sharp, and I could hear someone behind me laughing nervously as we got closer to the cliffs.
The Blue Cave was smaller than I’d pictured but somehow more intense — sunlight shot through the water and made everything glow from below. Marko handed out snorkels and I hesitated (cold water always gets me), but everyone else just jumped in so I followed. The water was cool, almost fizzy on my skin, and when you duck under it’s like swimming inside a sapphire. Someone tried to sing and their voice echoed weirdly off the rock. We didn’t stay long — maybe half an hour? — but it felt longer.
After that came the Green Caves — less famous, maybe, but wilder somehow. The light there is greenish-gold and you can swim into these little passages where it suddenly goes quiet except for your own splashing. At one point Marko pointed out a spot for cliff jumping; I watched two guys egg each other on before finally leaping (I passed). There were fish everywhere, darting away if you moved too fast.
Lopud Island was our last stop. Šunj Beach is all soft sand and shallow water that stretches forever — not what I expected after all those rocky coves. There’s this bar tucked back in the trees where we grabbed cold beers (included in the tour) and just sat around with wet hair, watching kids build sandcastles. I kept thinking how strange it felt to be so far from city noise. Didn’t want to leave yet, honestly.
Your day covers speedboat transport from Dubrovnik with a local guide steering things along; stops include Koločep’s Blue Cave and Green Caves for swimming or snorkeling (all gear provided), plus free-flowing drinks like beer or wine for adults (and juice or water for everyone). You’ll finish up relaxing at sandy Šunj Beach on Lopud Island before heading back late morning or early afternoon.
