Sunset Thai Cooking Class in Chiang Mai: Farm to Table
Cook Thai food as the sun sets over rice fields and mountains
A 3.5-hour evening Thai cooking class on an organic farm outside Chiang Mai where you prepare 5 authentic dishes in an open-air kitchen at sunset. After hotel pickup, you explore the farm—collecting eggs, picking mushrooms, and gathering fresh herbs—then cook with your own station and personal guidance from instructors, finishing by sharing your meal together before returning to your hotel.
The Experience
The class starts with hotel pickup within 5 km of Chiang Mai city center and a short drive to the farm, arriving as the light softens over the rice fields. You'll have time to walk the organic gardens, collect fresh eggs from the chickens, step into the mushroom hut, and see where the herbs and vegetables come from that you'll cook with. Unlike the morning session, the evening timing is built around that sunset atmosphere—the farm work feels unhurried, and the kitchen stays warm and glowing as you cook.
Each person gets their own cooking station in the open-air kitchen. Your instructors guide you step by step through 5 dishes: a choice of hot and sour soup or coconut soup, Thai stir-fried rice noodles (Pad Thai), a curry—green, Khao Soi, or red—Mango Sticky Rice, and Thai milk tea or lemon tea. No cooking experience is needed; the focus is on understanding ingredients and techniques so you can recreate these dishes at home. You'll receive a digital recipe e-book to take with you.
After cooking, you sit together and eat what you made. A welcome drink arrives when you start, and unlimited bottled water and herbal tea are available throughout. The ride back to your hotel gives you time to rest after the evening's work, and you leave with the flavors and the knowledge to cook them again.
