The experience
The day starts with a one-hour Barong and keris dance performance in Batubulan village: a traditional story of good fighting evil told through movement and costume. From there you move through the landscape: Tegenungan Waterfall, where you can swim or just watch the green river scenery; Tirta Empul Temple, where you walk into the holy pools that Balinese visitors use for ritual bathing to cleanse bad spirits; and the viewpoint at Mount Batur, an active volcano overlooking Lake Batur, where you eat an Indonesian buffet lunch and take in the view.
The afternoon takes you to Tegalalang Rice Terrace, where you walk through the stepped paddies and meet local farmers, then ends at Ubud Art Market to browse the artworks before heading back. Your guide speaks English throughout, and the private car means no shared stops or waiting for other groups. Hotel pickup and all entrance fees are built in, so the only thing left to arrange is what you want to photograph.
