The experience

The day starts before dawn with pickup from your Hyderabad hotel at 3:30am and transfer to the airport for a 5:30am flight to Delhi. You land around 8am and drive three hours via the Yamuna Express Highway to Agra, where the Taj Mahal waits. Entry is included, and a golf cart carries you to and from the monument itself: a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 17th century as a tomb by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife, Queen Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so plan accordingly.

After the Taj Mahal, you break for lunch at a restaurant (included on the all-inclusive package). Then you visit Agra Fort, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 from red sandstone. The fort's courtyards, mosques and private chambers show the blend of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles that defined the Mughal Empire. Time for shopping in Agra follows before the drive back to Delhi Airport for your return flight to Hyderabad. You arrive back in Hyderabad and are dropped at your hotel, completing the loop.
