The Experience

Hotel pickup at 8am gets you to the jetty by mid-morning, and from there the boat heads into Ras Mohamed National Park. The park holds more than 130 types of coral and over 1,000 fish species, and the boat makes 2–3 stops at different reefs so you're not anchored at one spot all day. Two of those stops are snorkel sites where you get in the water; the third is White Island, a plateau of white sand where the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba meet. You can walk on the sand there and see the two bodies of water from the island itself—it's the kind of geography detail that sticks with you.

Between snorkel stops, the boat has a sundeck where you can dry off and watch the Red Sea. Lunch and soft drinks come with the tour, served on board. The snorkeling itself is the main event: the reefs here are dense and the fish are bright enough that you don't need to go deep to see them.
