Breathe underwater and navigate the reef on your own

An introduction dive in Sharm el Sheikh's Red Sea lets you scuba dive without certification, guided by a PADI instructor who supplies all equipment and teaches you in the water. The dive runs about an hour, starting from hotel pickup, and takes you to sandy areas around 6 to 7 meters deep where shore reefs and coral create multiple entry points. You'll swim through fish populations and see the underwater formations that make this dive popular—no classroom, no weeks of training, just the experience itself under professional supervision.

The Experience

The dive starts at your hotel, where the guide meets you and walks through the basics before heading to the water. Once in the Red Sea, you'll descend to the shallow reef zone where the sand and coral create a natural landscape; the guide stays with you the entire time, adjusting the pace to what feels right. The water is warm and clear enough to see the fish moving through the reef structure—groupers, snappers, smaller species that dart between the coral. You're not watching from a boat; you're moving through it yourself, controlling your breathing and your position in the water.

All diving equipment—wetsuit, tank, regulator, weights, fins—comes with you; soft drinks are provided before and after. Hotel pickup and drop-off mean you don't arrange transport, and the guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or several other languages depending on the booking. The dive is designed for beginners and works for anyone over 10 years old, though the operator requires a health questionnaire beforehand because some conditions—asthma, heart issues, pregnancy, spinal injuries—can make diving unsafe. Bring a valid passport and a towel; if you want underwater photos or a DVD of the dive, those are available to purchase on the day.

Top questions

Can I scuba dive in Sharm el Sheikh if I've never done it before?

Yes. This introduction dive is designed for people without certification. A PADI instructor teaches you in the water and stays with you throughout, so you learn as you go instead of sitting in a classroom first.

What depth will I dive to in the Red Sea?

The dive takes you to sandy areas around 6 to 7 meters deep, where the shore reefs and coral create multiple entry points. The shallow depth and sandy bottom make it easier to move around and less intimidating for a first dive.

What's included in the diving introduction?

All equipment—wetsuit, tank, regulator, weights and fins—plus soft drinks, hotel pickup and drop-off, and the PADI instructor's time in the water with you. Underwater photos and DVDs can be purchased separately if you want them.

How long does the dive last?

The introduction dive runs about an hour from start to finish, including the time to meet your guide, get geared up and enter the water.

What do I need to bring or know before booking?

Bring a valid passport and a towel. You'll fill out a health questionnaire before diving because some medical conditions—asthma, heart problems, pregnancy or spinal injuries—can make diving unsafe. The minimum age is 10 years old, and diving within 18 hours of flying is not recommended.

Will the guide speak my language?

The guide is available in English, Spanish, Italian, French and several other languages depending on which option you select at checkout.
