The Experience

The equipment feels heavier than you'd think when you're standing on the beach in your wetsuit, and the instructor—a PADI-certified diver who's done this hundreds of times—notices you're holding your breath. He tells you to relax, that the confined water session is exactly for this: to get used to breathing underwater before the real thing. You spend about 25 minutes in the shallow water learning the basics—how to clear your mask, how to signal, how to move without panicking. It's not glamorous, but it works. By the time you're actually in the Red Sea, your body knows what to do.

The scuba diving in Sharm El Sheikh happens either from the beach or from a boat, depending on which you choose at booking.
