The experience

The boat leaves Sharm el Sheikh and cruises the Sinai coastline for an hour to reach Ras Mohamed National Park, 25 km southwest of the city. This is the southernmost tip of the peninsula and ranks among the ten best snorkeling beaches in the Red Sea. The reef system here is what makes it protected. You'll make two snorkeling stops in the park's crystal-clear water, each lasting roughly 90 minutes, with a professional guide in the water and the full equipment provided: mask, fins and a life jacket if you choose it. Between the stops, the yacht heads to White Island, where you'll anchor in turquoise water over white sand: the reason locals call it the Egyptian Maldives.

Lunch is a buffet served on deck: grilled chicken, three kinds of fresh salad, rice, pasta and vegetables. Unlimited soft drinks (water, coffee, tea and soda) flow throughout the day. If you want to try a 15-minute intro dive instead of just snorkeling at one of the stops, that's an option you can add at checkout. Underwater photos are also available. The yacht is air-conditioned, and hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you don't arrange transport yourself. The boat returns to the marina around 5 pm.

The trip runs eight hours total and suits all fitness levels. Children from age one are welcome, and the boat and all areas are wheelchair accessible. The yacht anchors at White Island between the two Ras Mohamed snorkeling stops, and you can swim and wade in the turquoise water and white sand. It's not a formal snorkeling stop with a guide, but the water is shallow and clear, so many people snorkel there on their own.

What time does the boat leave and return?
