The experience

The day starts at the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun), a modern structure designed by a national artist since 1997, where your guide walks you through the architecture, sculptures and wall paintings that fill the interior. From there you move to the Blue Temple (Wat Rong Sue Ten), decorated in blue and gold with a chapel surrounded by intricate wall art. The Black House Museum comes next: a traditional Lanna-style structure holding antiques, wood carvings, animal skins and 3D modern art pieces that stand apart from typical museum collections.

After lunch, a Thai buffet served with views over the Mekong River, the route takes you to the Golden Triangle viewpoint, where three countries meet and the landscape opens across Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. The guide explains the region's history as a major opium-growing area. You then visit the Hall of Opium Museum to learn more about that contested past. Before returning to your hotel, you stop at Choui Fong Tea Plantation to walk the rolling tea fields and taste Oolong tea, and visit a Karen village to learn about the local community and their migration from Myanmar.

The tour runs 10 hours and includes all entrance fees (100 THB at the White Temple, 80 THB at the Black House, 300 THB at the Karen village, 50 THB at the Opium Museum), transportation throughout the day, an English-speaking guide, the buffet lunch and drinking water.
